NHS staff and academic clinicians with an NHS position working in the East of England can apply for up to £500 towards global healthcare work with a low-and middle-income country.
The CGHP Grant Scheme is open now and provides grants of up to £500 for individuals undertaking global health work on a voluntary basis, and a total of £1,000 to a global health project with a low- and middle- income country.
You can participate in-person or remotely, and within a CGHP-supported project or one you’ve researched or developed yourself. It’s a great opportunity to bring your plan or idea to life and make a meaningful difference to global health.
Need some inspiration?
In 2023 and 2024, the Grant Scheme helped to fund:
- A Trainee Clinical Scientist (Audiology) and a Specialist Audiologist to visit Malawi as part of a project to improve access to education for children with hearing loss.
The most rewarding part was working in a team of other healthcare professionals and everyone pulling together, particularly in some challenging environments and with limited resources.
- Physiotherapists and dietitians to visit India to support the delivery of palliative and cancer care to disadvantaged communities.
- A therapy radiographer to travel to Tanzania to help deliver lifesaving training to rural communities.
- A resuscitation officer to travel to the Philippines to help build staff knowledge and best practice for managing emergencies.
I can vividly recall attending a CGHP event few years ago, where another member said to me; “as volunteers, we truly get more than we give”. I have always thought that the projects I do are simple initiatives and a modest giving-back gesture. He made me appreciate the impact I am making to global health. It feels really rewarding to be able to do this, especially for my home country.
The Grant Scheme isn’t just for overseas visits: funding has also been used to attend and present at global health-related conferences in the UK. And it can be used to support remote global health work conducted from the UK.
Don’t miss your chance to put your idea into action: the application deadline for the next funding round is 21 February 2025.
