Dame Mary Archer

President

Dame Mary has a long-standing relationship with Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, fulfilling the roles of Chairman of Cambridge University Hospitals from 2002-2012 and Vice-Chairman of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust from 2005-2015. In 2006, Dame Mary and senior hospital clinicians founded Addenbrooke’s Abroad, which would become today’s Cambridge Global Health Partnerships.

Mike Knapton

Chair (Interim)

Dr Mike Knapton is a trustee and vice-Chair of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT), a former Non-Executive Director at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) and a Non-Executive Director at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. His career began with General Practice and has encompassed clinical, educational, commissioning, charity and governance roles. Throughout his career he has remained committed to patient-centred care in a publicly funded healthcare system.

Evelyn Brealey

Director

Evelyn Brealey joined CGHP (Addenbrooke’s Abroad) in 2008. Between 2011 – 2015 she was based in the Ministry of Health and Wellness in Botswana leading the Botswana Cambridge Health Partnership. Evelyn is an experienced international development professional with more than 25 years of international work experience in the UK, East and Southern Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe focussed on development of health, children’s and social services.

Hannah Wilson

Fundraising Lead

Hannah joined the CGHP team in June 2022. After completing a degree in music and doing some overseas travels across Africa, Asia and New Zealand, Hannah began her fundraising career working for two of London’s top orchestras. In 2011, Hannah joined the fundraising team at Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust and spent 11 years raising funds for a wide range of projects across Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie Hospitals. Hannah’s involvement now stretches further afield, communicating and securing support for global healthcare as part of the CGHP team.

Sarah Bennett

Communications Lead

Sarah joined CGHP in July 2023 as Communications Lead. Prior to this she spent twelve years living and working in New Zealand in a range of senior communications and marketing positions in governmental organisations and tertiary education providers including the University of Auckland. Before this she spent the early part of her career in London, working in communications and fundraising roles for charities including Amnesty International.

Alyshia Gouldsbrough

Programme Officer

Alyshia joined CGHP in May 2023. She has over five years of experience working in the international development sector, including working in education and community engagement in Nepal and with refugees in Britain. She has an undergraduate degree in Geography and International Development, and in 2022 gained a Master’s degree in Conflict, Security, and Development.

Urja Malhotra

Team Assistant

Urja joined CGHP in April 2024 and holds MSc in Global Health from University of Glasgow. She has over four years' experience in conducting research and providing support for health and wellbeing projects. In the past, she has engaged in several non-clinical trials funded by the Scottish government, collaborated with the British Red Cross to pilot mental health projects, and served as the communications lead for Students for Global Health in Glasgow. She also holds a dual bachelors degree in Microbiology and Chemistry from the University of Mumbai, along with a diploma in Hospital and Healthcare Management.

Tom Bashford

Tom Bashford is a Clinical Lecturer in Anaesthesia, and in September 2022 takes up the position of University Lecturer in Healthcare Systems, at the University of Cambridge. He works clinically as an anaesthetist at Addenbrooke’s hospital with a specialist interest in neuroanaesthesia, and since 2017 has worked with the NIHR Global Health Research Group on Neurotrauma exploring the response of health systems to traumatic brain injury. He is currently an Honorary Advisor to THET and the past president of the World Anaesthesia Society.

Sue Broster

Sue Broster is a Consultant in Neonatal Intensive Care and Neonatal Transport Medicine, CUH; Deputy Medical Director, CUH; and co-leads RCPCH project in Myanmar.

Fiona Cornish

Fiona Cornish is senior partner of a Cambridge GP practice. She is a member of the Council of the Medical Protection Society and a Trustee of Medical Support in Romania and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Peter Gough

Peter Gough has been an NHS Family Doctor since the 1980s and works as a volunteer GP and Trustee for Doctors of the World UK. Since 2000 he has been involved with communities in Rajasthan, India addressing issues of migration, health, education and the lack of opportunities for girls and women.

Tim Glenn

Tim Glenn joined Royal Papworth Hospital as Chief Finance Officer in April 2020. He was previously with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he was Director of Finance. Tim is a chartered accountant with 15 years of senior financial leadership experience working across community, acute and specialist NHS organisations as well as in the private sector.

Professor Helen Howe

Professor Helen Howe is a registered pharmacist with a career history in hospital pharmacy, retiring as Chief Pharmacist at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) in 2014. Helen continues to work as a Non-Executive Director at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, and as a Trustee for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Tony Jewell

Tony Jewell worked as a general practitioner (GP) in inner London for 10 years, establishing a modern health centre in a deprived area. Tony later trained in Public Health, and was appointed as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Welsh Government in 2006 until retirement in 2012.

Tracey McClelland

Tracey McClelland works as an Associate Director of Operations at Cambridge University Hospitals. She is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years NHS experience and holds an MSc in Healthcare Management. Tracey has volunteered for Cambridge Global Health Partnerships in Botswana and has helped set up new health partnerships.

Claire Stoneham

Claire is Director of Strategy and Major Projects at Cambridge University Hospitals. Prior to joining CUH, Claire worked at the Department of Health & Social Care undertaking national roles that included Director of Provider Efficiency & Performance, and Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Health.
