Pharmacy & Microbiology

Both pharmacy and microbiology are essential to the healthcare system. Pharmacists ensure the safe and effective use of medications, while microbiologists help understand and combat infectious diseases. Pharmacy and microbiology intersect in several critical areas, particularly in the development and use of antimicrobial agents, for example in the development of antibiotics, antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention control. Pharmacists and microbiologists are involved in multiple CGHP-supported partnerships including the Kakamega Cambridge Antimicrobial Stewardship partnership and the Maternal and Neonatal Health partnership.
