Matt Kinsella
Infectious Diseases
Matt is an Academic Clinical Fellow in Infectious Diseases and an ST4 Registrar in Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Matt attended UCL medical school, graduating in 2020. He volunteered to start work early as a Foundation Interim Doctor in a microbiology department in North London to support in the first COVID wave. Matt subsequently undertook Foundation and Internal Medicine training in the East of England. During this he undertook an F3 year and completed the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in London after which he volunteered as a Study Doctor in Botswana, where he worked on a Cryptococcal Meningitis study under Prof Joe Jarvis.
Matt is eager to follow the path of previous Infectious Diseases registrars in pursuit of a successful CGHP fellowship.
Matt, recently was successfully awarded an NIHR-funded Academic Clinical Fellowship, he is focussing his research on emerging Flaviviruses in Dr Nick Matheson’s group.
As part of his CGHP fellowship, he will primarily be involved in further development of the successful HIV training partnership between clinicians in UK and Zimbabwe.
Abinaya Murali
Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Abinaya Murali is an Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainee in the East of England with a special interest in urogynaecology. She holds an MSc in Public Health and trained in Nepal before moving to the UK.
Her passion is women’s health equity, particularly pelvic floor health, a subject that women around the world are still least likely to talk about. This is why she founded CoreDoc, a pelvic floor exercise app built to give women access to evidence-based exercises at home, on their own terms.
Her project with CGHP will examine maternal mortality in Kenya, focusing on understanding the major factors behind maternal deaths and working with colleagues there to improve outcomes and strengthen maternity care.
Anastasia Krywonos
Public Health
Anastasia is an ST3 Public Health Registrar in the East of England. Her passion for global health developed through pursuing an intercalated degree in Medical Anthropology whilst at medical school, where she undertook research into health seeking behaviours in Myanmar. She is particularly interested in the application of behavioural science in different health systems at the population level, and the development of interventions that improve health equity and outcomes globally.
Since starting Public Health training, Anastasia has completed an MPhil in Population Health Sciences at the University of Cambridge and undertaken local authority and regional health protection placements. Nationally, she has been involved in work to support registrar engagement in global and public health advocacy.
Anastasia is excited for the opportunity to undertake the CGHP global health fellowship and is looking forward to contributing to and learning from partnership work in Myanmar.
Samuel Orisayomi
General Practice
Samuel is a GPST3 with Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, currently undertaking training in the Great Yarmouth GP VTS in the East of England. Before moving to the UK, he spent over five years working in clinical and global health roles in Nigeria, focusing on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, immunisation, and health systems strengthening with organisations including ICAP at Columbia University and FHI 360.
His interests span global primary care, health equity, quality improvement, health systems strengthening, medical education, sustainability by partners, and culturally responsive healthcare. He has experience in programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation, healthcare worker training, mentorship, and collaboration with government and community stakeholders.
Through the CGHP Global Health Fellowship, he hopes to connect his UK general practice training with his experience in sub-Saharan Africa, contribute to bidirectional learning, and support the development of sustainable, equitable health systems through collaboration with international partners.
