CGHP announces new interim Chair

We’re delighted to announce Dr Mike Knapton as Chair (interim) of the Cambridge Global Health Partnerships’ (CGHP) Committee.  After more than three years as Chair of the CGHP Committee, Catherine Arnold OBE is stepping down.

Mike is already a member of the CGHP Committee, having joined in 2023, and brings a wealth of relevant understanding and experience to the Chair role. He is a trustee and vice-Chair of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT), a former Non-Executive Director at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) and currently a Non-Executive Director at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

Mike’s career began with General Practice and has encompassed clinical, educational, commissioning, charity and governance roles. Throughout his career he has remained committed to patient-centred care in a publicly funded healthcare system.

“I am excited to take on the role of Chair (interim) and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Catherine for her commitment, leadership and many contributions to the work of CGHP over the past three years.” said Mike.

Mike will work closely with others to identify the skills and experience needed in the next Chair for the CGHP Committee and will lead the appointment process.

About CGHP

Cambridge Global Health Partnerships (CGHP) is a charitable programme that facilitates safe, ethical, and effective health partnerships between Cambridge and the East of England and low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our work aims to strengthen healthcare systems and address major health challenges by sharing knowledge, skills, resources, and experiences. We do this by supporting NHS staff, students, and academics at all levels to collaborate with partners and colleagues in hospitals and healthcare institutions around the world. Our work is hybrid, allowing people to participate in global health work in-person and remotely. Together, our partners and members co-develop and co-deliver projects that deliver reciprocal benefits and improve healthcare globally.

CGHP functions as a linked charity to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT)
