Divisional director of operations and CGHP committee member, Tracey McClelland began her nurse training in 1983 and has been with Cambridge University Hospitals Trust for 40 years. In this fascinating staff profile she explains more about her career trajectory and the huge impact her work with CGHP in Botswana and the Philippines has had on her personal and professional development. As a member of the CGHP committee, Tracey continues to champion global health partnerships, supporting and promoting the opportunities to get involved to healthcare professionals at CUH.
“Being supported to volunteer with Addenbrooke’s Abroad (now CGHP) in Botswana and later in the Philippines hugely supported my development. I came back with not only an increased knowledge of healthcare systems in other countries but a renewed appreciation of the resources we have in the NHS – staff, knowledge, training, estates and equipment.”
